Corn Grits

Definition

Corn Grit are manufactured from de-germinated yellow corn, which is properly cleaned & milled to get desired particle size.

Corn grit are formed from the kernel of the corn. Corn is one of the world's great staple foods. Corn was ground by stone mill and passed through sieves traditionally. The processing involves separation of the fatty substance and bran from grit and prepared in desired particle size.

Application

Corn grits also called as flaking grits are widely used in the production of corn flakes by breakfast industry .With its high starch content it is also used in production of beer by breweries.

Corn meal (semolina/corn sooji) is widely used by snack food industry. Apart from this it is also used by biscuit manufacturers and bakeries to be used in cookies and muffins

They are also used for manufacturing other crisp snacks popular among children such as cheese balls, corn chips and others.

Corn Grits are used in various bakeries to make sauces, puddings, custards, sweets and desserts, extruded snacks, breakfast cereals etc.
