Uses: The oil of Calamus is used as an ingredient in falvors, particularly in liquors. The oil is employed also in perfumery. Because of its peculiar, Qarm and somewhat spicy odour, it blends well into compositions of the heavier oriental type.
Description: A reed like aquatic plant about 1 meter high, with sword shape leaves and small greenish-yellow flowers. It grows on the margins of lakes and streams with the long branched rhizome immersed int he mud. The whole plant is aromatic.
